DEEP DIVE: A LECTURE TAKEAWAY ON "ENTWINED"

By Joshua Samuel Valido

More than just being connected. Entwined.

I've searched how being entwined looks and describing them as "things twisted together" would be an understatement. "Things that are strongly twisted, tightly woven together, they're simply inseparable" would make a better description.

Bishop Paul Hernandez described entwined things as those that are intricately twisted and profoundly connected, often overshadowing one another. He interpreted this as "pinuluputan" or "sinakop." From this, he concluded that it is the Agape love of the Lord that illuminates the heavens. This unique, unfair, and unparalleled love of God envelops our multitude of sins and intertwines with our lives. This concept embodies the essence of God's love, emphasizing that no matter what you have done, He will continue to love you because His love "covers" those transgressions, always exceeding the weight of your past.

In addition to these thoughts, I enjoy contemplating the notion of entwined elements as inseparable. In Romans 8, the Apostle Paul states that nothing can separate us from the love of God—not death or life, not angels or demons, nor our fears or worries, and not even the powers of hell. The devil may spend all day trying to deceive you with falsehoods about your circumstances or feelings that could cause you to doubt God's love, but remember this: the LORD loves you, and that will never change. There is no undoing God's love; instead, it only grows stronger. There is truly no love that can light up the heavens quite like the love of the Creator Himself.

In John chapter 15, Jesus states: "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." This represents the utmost form of love, one that no charming prince or beautiful princess, guarded by a dragon in a castle, could ever demonstrate. Such love is uniquely embodied by an innocent man, crucified on a hill.

While we may not be able to replicate Jesus's sacrifice exactly, He has commanded us to love one another as He has loved us. Therefore, our love should be inspired by His: sacrificial, selfless, compassionate, and unconditional. Once again, as Jesus instructed, "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."
