“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Galatians 5:22
Staying healthy can be a struggle—especially for young professionals. As we juggle the demands of family, ministry, work, and life in general, it often becomes difficult to find time to care for our physical well-being. We tend to overlook our bodies, forgetting that they are not our own but are temples of the Holy Spirit. God bought us at a high price, and with that comes the responsibility not just to care for our bodies, but to use them for His glory.

Good health is closely tied to self-control—a fruit of the Spirit. Whether it’s eating nutritious food, exercising regularly, getting proper sleep, or choosing life-giving habits, these all require self-discipline. And self-control is not something we develop on our own—it is a result of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. When we allow the Spirit to guide us, He gives us the wisdom and strength to take care of ourselves.

Taking care of our health is part of stewardship and worship. It’s not about conforming to society’s standards or chasing physical perfection. Rather, it’s about honoring God with our bodies so we can fully commit to the work He has called us to do. It’s not about looking good—it’s about feeling good and being well-equipped to serve God in every area of life.

Reflection Questions:
1. In what ways have I neglected my body, and how can I begin honoring it as God’s temple?
2. Which area of self-control (food, rest, time, habits) do I need to surrender to the Holy Spirit?
3. How does taking care of my body help me become more effective in my calling and service to God?
Short Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gift of my body and for the Holy Spirit who empowers me to live in self-control. Help me to see my health as a form of worship and stewardship. Teach me to care for myself not out of vanity, but so I may serve You with strength, clarity, and joy. Amen.
