POWERHOUSE DEVOTIONALS: LACKING NOTHING IN A WORLD THAT NEVER SLOWS DOWN

Rediscovering Psalm 23 in seasons of pressure and pace

By: Juliana Bejoc

Psalm 23 had become too familiar to me. Many of us were taught this passage as children. Pastors and preachers have emphasized it so often that, over time, I forgot to see its depth and significance in my own life. It was used so frequently that I began to hear it as mere words, rather than as a living reminder of God's truth.

"The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing." Psalm 23:1

This verse stayed with me one day as I was playing with my son. I realized that in the same way I guide, love, correct, and protect him, God does this for us—and even more. This is not simply a comforting phrase; it is a declaration of who Jesus is in our lives. "I lack nothing" does not mean we receive everything we want. It means our lives are under God's care. Nothing is missing, even when life feels incomplete. Like how we care for our children; the Lord guides our way, protects us, corrects us, and leads our path.

"He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake." Psalm 23:2-3

God invites us to rest in His love. He leads us to peace, and solace. He desires that our souls find rest in Him. In a fast-paced world, He calls us to depend on Him—to allow Him to guide our paths so that our lives reflect who He is. He wants us to live in such a way that when people see us, they recognize that we are following Him

"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies." Psalm 23:4-5a

Jesus is our protector, and fear has no place in our lives. When we are at our lowest, He lifts us. No weapon formed against us will prosper because He dwells within us. He blesses us even before the eyes of those who curse us.

"You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows." Psalm 23:5b

Jesus does not simply bless us—He blesses us abundantly. This overflow is not just financial, it's also our gifts, our calling, and all that we have. It is His design for us to be a blessing to others and to bring glory to His name.

"Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23:6

Even in uncertain times, when fear creeps in, God's goodness follows us—not because of who we are, but because of who He is. Not because we deserve it, but because He promised it. In a world full of uncertainty, He remains constant.

Today, let us remember who God is in our lives. He is our Shepherd. He leads and protects us. He corrects us and cares for us. May we recognize that our cup is full and overflowing not because of what we do, but because of who He is and what He did on the cross. We are called to bless others and glorify Him; all we need to do is trust the One who keeps pouring.
