POWERHOUSE EDITORIALS: THE GRIND LIFE

By Joshua Miracle Alega

As young professionals, we work hard in order to reach our goals, and we exhaust our youth chasing them. We spend years of planning and execution, years of tears and burn-out. We work hard to earn money and then plan ahead of us. We tend to keep our eyes fixed on the unknown. We keep ourselves motivated, but most often for the wrong reasons.

We grind our lives away and forget that there are things “sacrificed” in the process. There is nothing wrong with dreaming of a good and comfortable life. However, there are instances when we become so immersed in work and chase after promotion that we have no more time to bond with our own families. Others can be so absorbed in their businesses that they get no sleep at all.

We are losing a lot by getting our priorities upside down!

Where is God in our grind? Where do we place God when we grind for a comfortable life? And when we grind, do we even consider God leading the dreams we dream of? Is it His will to begin with? Have we really even thought of bringing God to the table?

God wishes to bless us, exceedingly and abundantly. However, we oftentimes forget that we serve an all-powerful God. We focus on grinding our lives away but we tend to forget who has stored all these blessings that we have right now. At the end of the day, when time has passed and then we look back, we see how many years of our youth we spent chasing vanity.

There is nothing wrong with chasing a wonderful dream. We all do. We just need to realign our perspective on how we do things, and who we do these things for. Let God be the center of everything. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, “Cast your burdens upon me, those who are heavily laden, and I will give you rest.”

When the grind gets heavy, let go and let God. As we grind for a blissful life, do not forget that you are not alone in this. God’s got your back!
