POWERHOUSE DEVOTIONALS: INTIMATE CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD

Updated: Jan 26

By Joshua Miracle Alega

Praying is easy when you are in the church. The setting is made for you to praise and worship and at the same time, pray— even once a week. You get a chance to talk and rest with God in these moments -such an intricate detail that God rested on the seventh day so that we can rest in His presence as well.

However, there is just one question we need to ask ourselves after that— Do we pray when we are all alone with God? This is more prominent since we have all six days for ourselves.

"But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then, your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” - Matthew 6:6

Evidently, prayer is not just one of those to-do list. It is where our relationship with God is anchored. You just do not walk past someone you know. You converse with them, reason out, make sense with them, and most importantly, check and care for them.

When was the last time you checked with God on how He feels about your relationship with Him? We've been so focused and immersed in ourselves that we forget that God also feels and is hurt— almost all the time when we sin.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Now, prayer is a conversation between a speaker and a listener. All this time, we have been praying so hard to God about all our concerns and needs. It is high time for us to be listeners of what God might be saying and what is going to bring Him to delight.
