"God bless your heart, young man!"
These were the uplifting words of Jane, one of the customers I spoke with on the phone, after receiving help with her concerns about her orders.
Working in the call center industry, there were times when I did not want to talk to people, but I had to because of the nature of my job. That was one gloomy afternoon. However, Jane's words entirely made my day and reminded me of how powerful, even simple words, can be.
In these modern times of technological innovations and social media networks, it is easier for us to speak our minds whenever and however we want. Naturally, we also tend to react to our emotions and utter words based on what we feel on the spur of the moment.

Still and all, Christians as we are, we need to be mindful of what we say. As we may know, words have the power to uplift people or shatter their spirits.
"The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences." - Proverbs 18:21 (NLT)
This reminds us that our words can be life-giving but destructive at the same time. In this sense, may we always choose to speak life and blessings to others, declaring words that inspire and build up.
Paul also reminded us to always speak with grace in our responses to people. In Colossians 4:6, he said, “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”
Being created in the image of God, we represent and reflect Him in every word we say. Whenever we speak and people listen, I pray that they may hear, see, and find Jesus in us and that we become vessels of His grace, bringing them closer to Him.
